About Fractional COO Services

What is a Fractional COO?

A Fractional COO is an experienced chief operating officer who works with your business on a part-time or project basis — giving you senior-level operational expertise without the cost of a full-time executive hire. Rather than paying a six-figure salary plus benefits, you get seasoned operators embedded in your business for exactly what you need, when you need it.

What does a Fractional COO do?

A Fractional COO takes ownership of your operational challenges so you can focus on leading and growing the business. Depending on the engagement, this includes identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies, building repeatable hiring systems, auditing and improving internal processes, and documenting how your business actually runs. At The Fractionals, we sit in the room, teach you how to do the work, and treat your business as if it were our own.

How is a Fractional COO different from a business consultant?

A consultant analyzes your business and hands you a report. A Fractional COO rolls up their sleeves and does the work alongside your team. We're operators, not just advisors and we're accountable to outcomes, not deliverables.

What is a Fractional Integrator?

An Integrator is the operational counterpart to a Visionary founder. If you're the one with the big ideas but your team struggles to execute without constant direction from you, you need an Integrator. Our Fractional Integrators bridge the gap between your vision and your team's day-to-day work. We help you communicate priorities clearly, hold people accountable, and keep operations running smoothly.

Who We Work With

What size businesses does The Fractionals work with?

We specialize in founder-led businesses generating between $700k and $5M+ in annual revenue. These businesses are typically past the startup phase but not yet large enough to justify a full-time COO. They're growing fast, operationally stretched, and the founder is usually still running everything personally.

What industries do you serve?

We work across industries. Our expertise is in operations, not any single industry. We work with professional services firms, wealth management practices, consulting businesses, and product-based companies. If your business has a founder who is over-involved in daily operations and a team that depends too heavily on that founder, we can help.

Do you work with businesses outside of Arizona?

Yes. While we are based in Tempe, Arizona, we service all US states and territories. Most of our engagements are conducted remotely, with on-site visits as needed.

How do I know if I need operational help?

A few common signs:

  • You are the bottleneck in your own business (aka decisions can't happen without you)
  • Your team keeps asking you the same questions over and over
  • You're growing but your hiring process is inconsistent and reactive
  • Your internal systems and processes aren't documented and live only in people's heads
  • You've tried to step back but things fall apart when you do

Our Services

What services do The Fractionals offer?

We offer focused, project-based engagements as well as ongoing support:

  • Operations Audit — A structured deep-dive into your business operations that identifies exactly where your bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and gaps are. This is our most common starting point and delivers a clear, actionable picture of what needs to change.
  • Hiring Package — A done-with-you hiring process that skips recruiter fees and builds a repeatable system for finding, evaluating, and onboarding the right people. Ideal for founders who are hiring for the first time or whose current process is inconsistent.
  • Growth Partner Retainer — Our ongoing fractional COO engagement for founders who are ready for sustained operational support. After completing a project engagement, many clients continue with the Retainer to keep momentum and implement longer-term change.
What is the Operations Audit and what do I get from it?

The Operations Audit is a structured evaluation of how your business actually runs — your systems, team structure, processes, technology, and decision-making. We look at where time and money are being lost, where your team is unclear on roles and accountability, and where growth is being held back by operational gaps. You come away with a clear picture of your biggest leverage points and a prioritized roadmap for addressing them. Many clients tell us it's the first time they've seen their business documented from the outside looking in.

What is the Hiring Package and who is it for?

The Hiring Package is for founders who are ready to make a hire but don't have a reliable, repeatable process to do it well. We build your job description, structure your candidate evaluation process, and help you make a confident hiring decision without paying recruiter fees. We also set up your onboarding framework so the person you hire actually succeeds once they start. It's designed for businesses making their first or second key hire, or for those who've had bad hiring experiences and want to do it right this time.

Do I have to start with the Operations Audit?

Not necessarily. If you have a specific, defined need, like an upcoming hire, the Hiring Package is a standalone engagement that doesn't require an Audit first. That said, many clients find the Audit valuable because it reveals operational issues they weren't aware of, including gaps in team structure that directly affect hiring decisions.

What is the Growth Partner Retainer?

The Growth Partner Retainer is our ongoing engagement for founders who want consistent operational support month over month. Think of it as a part-time COO team embedded in your business — attending meetings, managing projects, building systems, and holding your team accountable on an ongoing basis. Most clients reach the Retainer after completing a project engagement and wanting to continue the momentum.

Working With Us

What makes The Fractionals different from other fractional COO services?

A few things set us apart:

  1. We're a team, not a solo operator. When you hire The Fractionals, you get Amanda's strategic leadership, Paige's systems and technology expertise, and Cassandra's project management and HR depth — not a single generalist.
  2. Our founder has done it herself. Amanda built and ran a business for 14 years before successfully selling it in 2021. She brings the perspective of someone who has sat in your seat, not just advised from the outside.
  3. We specialize in one stage. We work exclusively with founder-led businesses at $700k–5M+. We know this stage deeply and don't try to be everything to everyone.
  4. We start with a defined scope. Our project-based engagements give you a clear deliverable with a beginning and end, so you're not locked into an open-ended commitment before you know if we're the right fit.
How does Amanda's CEPA certification benefit my business?

Amanda is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) through the Exit Planning Institute. This means she understands not just how to run your operations today, but how to build a business that is transferable and valuable tomorrow. Whether or not you plan to sell, building a business that could run without you makes it stronger, more scalable, and more resilient.

How quickly can we get started?

Project engagements like the Operations Audit and Hiring Package can typically be scoped and started within a few weeks of your discovery call. The first step is always a 30-minute conversation to understand your situation and confirm we're the right fit.

How long does a project engagement take?

The Operations Audit is typically completed within 4-8 weeks. The Hiring Package timeline depends on your hiring timeline and role complexity but is generally delivered as an active project over 4–8 weeks. Both have clear deliverables and defined endpoints.

05

Pricing & Getting Started

How much does an Operations Audit or Hiring Package cost?

Our project engagements are scoped and priced based on the size and complexity of your business. We don't publish flat rates because a 6-person firm and a 25-person firm have very different operational realities. Contact us for a conversation and a custom proposal.

Do I have to commit to an ongoing retainer?

No. Our Operations Audit and Hiring Package are standalone project engagements with no obligation to continue. Many clients do choose to move into the Growth Partner Retainer after a project engagement, but that's always a separate conversation and decision.

How do I get started?

Schedule a discovery call — it's a free 30-minute conversation to understand your situation and see if we're the right fit. No pitch, no pressure. Just an honest conversation about where your business is and what would actually help.
