What actually happens in the hiring package
You've read the "what's included" list. Here's the plain-language walkthrough of what actually happens, phase by phase, when you bring us in to fill a role.
Hiring gets outsourced to a recruiter, or it gets done ad hoc: a job posted somewhere, some resumes reviewed, an offer made and hoped for. The Hiring Package is neither. It's hands-on support through one complete hiring round, built specifically so you walk away able to do it again yourself next time, without paying recruiter fees or relying on who happens to already be in your network.
This post is the plain-language version: what actually happens, in order, when you bring us in to fill a role.
So, what is the Hiring Package, exactly?
The Hiring Package is direct, hands-on support through one full hiring round, from writing the position description to a signed offer and a finalized employee handbook. It is not a recruiter search where you hand off the role and wait for candidates to appear. You're involved throughout, and by design: the goal isn't just filling this one position, it's building a repeatable hiring process you own going forward.
Phase one: defining the role
Before anything gets posted, we build the position description together: what the role actually needs to do, not just a generic title. At the same time, we guide you in setting up QuickBooks Time (QB Time) payroll for the role, so the administrative side is ready before you have someone to pay. By the end of this phase, we've agreed on the specific profile of who you actually need, not just a job title copied from a competitor's listing.
For you, this phase is mostly conversation: clarifying what "the right person" actually looks like for this specific role, in this specific business.
Phase two: sourcing and screening
Once the role is defined, we post and manage the listing on Indeed and start sourcing candidates, deliberately looking beyond whoever happens to already be in your network. Applications get screened for fit before they ever reach your calendar, so the candidates you actually spend time on have already cleared a real bar.
This is the phase that most directly replaces what a recruiter would otherwise charge you for, except you're watching it happen instead of paying a flat fee to a black box.
Phase three: interviews and selection
We participate in interviews alongside you, and we coach interview technique as we go, not just after the fact. The goal is that by the end of this hiring round, you've actually practiced running a strong interview, not just sat through one. From there, we help you land on the right offer for the right candidate.
This is usually the phase founders find most valuable in hindsight: it's where "having help" turns into "knowing how to do this myself next time."
A hiring round with a coach in the room, not a hiring service done to you.
Phase four: onboarding and handoff
Once an offer is signed, the employee handbook gets finalized and the new hire is onboarded. This is also the formal handoff point: you walk away not just with a new employee, but with a repeatable process for the next hire, whenever that need comes up.
What you actually walk away with
- ✓One filled position, from job description to signed offer
- ✓A finalized employee handbook
- ✓Real interview experience and coaching, not just a hiring decision made for you
- ✓A repeatable hiring process you can run again yourself
What the Hiring Package is not
Worth being direct about the boundaries:
- It's not a traditional recruiter search where you hand off the role entirely and wait for a shortlist.
- It's not ongoing HR management or a permanent outsourced hiring function.
- It's not a guarantee of a specific candidate or timeline. Good hiring takes the time it takes.
Think of it as a hiring round with a coach in the room, not a hiring service done to you.
Is the Hiring Package right for your business?
It tends to be the right fit when you're hiring for a role that matters enough that you don't want to leave it to chance, but you also don't want to pay recruiter fees to do it. The SHRM 2025 Benchmarking Report puts the average cost per hire at $5,475 for non-executive roles, often with no guarantee the hire actually works out and no process left behind once it's done. If you'd rather build that capability inside your own business instead of renting it every time, that's exactly what this is built for.
It's also worth pairing with an Operations Audit first if you're not yet sure the role itself is even structured right, since hiring into an undefined role tends to compound the problem rather than solve it.
Where to go from here
If you're about to hire and want it done well the first time, and want to actually know how to do it yourself the next time, a Hiring Package is built for exactly that. It also pairs naturally with questions about whether to develop leaders internally or hire from outside if you're not yet sure hiring externally is even the right call.
Hire well once, and never need a recruiter again.
